All in all, just continue the story and the things will unlock, except for the horse stuff. You can only recruit Assassins after a specific mission into the game, and its coming very soon so dont worry about that. Leonardo also comes soon enough, and you can only buy the bracers after you get dual hidden blades.
Similar to how Assassin's Creed 3 took a big gamble on its setting, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag took a massive gamble on its gameplay loop. And it shows in its file size. This game took over 30 GB of hard drive space, nearly double what the last installment asked for.
Sequences 5-8 are about the length of Sequence 4. Then there's about 20 minutes until the end. But there are a lot more side missions. There are the flags, feathers, assassination contracts, courtesan missions, thief missions, Templar agents, Copernico missions, Cristina missions, the Romulus lairs, the guild challenges, the fight club, and the Leonardo missions. In my opinion, the Da Vinci's disappearance DLC makes the most sense story-wise if you do it after the main story, and it contains minor spoilers for the main story. It is called "the restored sequence" or smth on the map. All other DLCs can be completed whenever you like and they give only money. It all feels a bit messy and unnecessarily convoluted. The plot itself is ultimately a tale of two halves. On the one hand, Ezioβs continued journey and rise to the level of Mentor is a nice touch and ties into the ideas of Brotherhood that remain a fixed focus of this title. In doing so though, the present day timeline suffers. H8aM.
