It is a surprisingly reliable car. The reputation for Jaguar unreliability (mechanically) is something I have yet to see with friends and family who have had/have a number of the final generation of XJ, XE, and the first generation XF. The user interface/screen may be frustrating, but the rest of the car has a high chance of being great.

Some of us watch for your commentary and obsessive desire to uncover quirks and oddities as much as we watch because the car featured is "cool". Honest to god, the thing I like most about watching you and Leno's Garage is the amount of time spent obsessing over the sma Mate you're looking at a Jag. You could have no reliability issues, you could either have slight issues or an issue very rarely. Or you could have constant issues with major problems. Everyone has a different experiance. My F-type I purchased used. In the 2nd week my carbon canister valve failed. I took it over to the nearest Jag dealership. Yes. Get the 3.0 diesel XF, it’s not out of budget you just need to get a slightly older one. 4 cylinder diesels have no place in a luxury car even if they didn’t explode for fun. If you’re happy with a rattly 4 pot then something like a Passat or Mondeo would be a better bet. Jags as of late seem comparable to 2nd tier reliability German counterparts like VAG. With high costs on a luxury car it's a crapshot. For example a 30% rate means 70% of time you'll be fine. If you simply can't afford major issues (eg fix it yourself w/ pick/pull parts), then I wouldn't recommend it. 1VOO.
