The other day I bought a 2014 2.2 MZ6 estate/wagon from a used car dealership with just over 60k miles (97k km?) on the clock. Going against the grain when it comes to downsizing engines has become something of a norm for Mazda and its excellent 2.2-litre diesel gets the balance right between running costs and outright power. Diesel makes up 75% of sales here in the UK for the 6 and this 150hp version is the most popular, particularly with company car drivers. Called e-Skyactiv D, the 3.3-liter six-cylinder was developed for markets outside of America, and it's presented as one of the cleanest-burning diesel engines in the world thanks to clever technology.
