The world itself is quite inter connected with people having relationships across factions so when you negativity or positively effect them, it can set off chain reactions of relationship status across the continent. This is most affected by executions, prisoner releases, large gifts, and marriages. The only significant way to reduce construction time is to install a govenor with high engineering skill. I have one with around 60 eng, which contributes 15 construction points. (This is 5x more that an lvl 3 workshop provides) Tldr: Get a governor with high engineering and keep the reserve full. And even in peace time I have to buy tens of thousands of denars worth of food every 4 days or my town goes right back to starving to death, meaning I don't have time to train troops to put into the garrison I can barely feed sometimes maybe potentially possibly, since I have to travel days now just to find a town with more than 50 grain to it I2EHKr.
