There was a time when MINI Coopers were notorious for having automatic transmission problems. In fact, the 1st gen CVT (R50) was so bad that BMW and MINI were the subject of a class action lawsuit forcing MINI to cover the transmissions for the earlier of 8 years or 150,000 miles. Today, these are all out of warranty.

These used Mini Coopers have several notable problems, but some proactive maintenance can make them reliable, especially the 2005-2006 models.
I know minis do burn oil and use it up etc. If everything's in order and working well it shouldn't use any more than any other engine. there really is only two things to do if you're burning oil - You can replace the valve stem seals incase they have perished. Or you can inspect the piston rings and see if they're still functioning as well as
